Market outlook
Stable Outlook 7/10
The card is already a premium chase variant, so prices are likely to remain supported by collector demand, but explosive growth may be limited unless Buggy’s popularity spikes further or supply tightens in high grade.
Next months. Expect relatively stable prices with mild fluctuations based on grading supply, auction results, and One Piece market sentiment.
Long term. Over 1-3 years, gem-mint copies should remain collectible and may appreciate gradually if One Piece demand stays strong, though gains may be uneven and heavily dependent on grade and buyer interest.
History
Buggy is a major antagonist-turned-rival in Eiichiro Oda's One Piece, originally introduced as Buggy the Clown. He is one of the earliest pirate captains encountered in the series and later becomes unexpectedly influential through luck, deception, charisma, and title inflation. In modern One Piece lore, Buggy is one of the Yonko ('Four Emperors') in the post-Wano era, and his rise is a fan-favorite example of the series' recurring theme that perception and circumstance can be as powerful as raw strength. This card references his 'Wanted Poster' manga-style artwork, which makes it especially desirable to collectors.
First released in Japan in the One Piece Card Game set Emperors in the New World (OP09), which released on December 13, 2024. The card number is OP09-051 and the Japanese version is the original printing for this manga alternate-art variant.
- This is a manga-style alternate art / wanted poster variant, which is one of the most sought-after chase card treatments in the One Piece Card Game.
- Buggy is a major fan favorite because of his comedic reputation, unexpectedly high status, and strong meme/cult appeal.
- The card is tied to OP09, a set centered on Emperor-level characters, which increases its collector interest compared with ordinary character cards.

Collector notes
Condition. Check for whitening on edges and corners, surface scratches on the foil/wanted-poster finish, centering issues, print lines, and binder wear. Manga and alternate-art foils are especially sensitive to visible surface scuffs and micro-scratches under bright light.
Storage. Use a clean penny sleeve plus a perfect-fit sleeve if grading or long-term storage is planned, then place it in a top loader or semi-rigid card holder. Keep it away from humidity, direct sunlight, and friction with other cards, and avoid repeated handling without gloves or clean hands.
Authenticity. Verify the correct Japanese print quality, set symbol, card number OP09-051, and authentic foil texture. Counterfeits often have blurry text, incorrect color saturation, poor cut quality, or mismatched foil patterns. Compare the card against verified scans and check that the typography, borders, and back of the card match official Japanese One Piece Card Game standards.
