History
Pikachu is the iconic mascot of the Pokémon franchise, first introduced in 1996 as Pokémon #025 in the original Generation I games Pokémon Red and Green. Designed by Atsuko Nishida, Pikachu is an Electric-type mouse Pokémon known for its adorable appearance, red cheeks that store electricity, and immense popularity stemming from its starring role in the Pokémon anime alongside trainer Ash Ketchum. Its significance lies in representing the entire franchise, appearing on most Pokémon logos, merchandise, and media, making it the most recognizable Pokémon worldwide.

Collector notes
Condition. Check for centering (especially on intricate full art border), surface scratches on glossy holo finish, edge whitening from shuffling, print lines or color bleeding common in Chinese print quality; corners prone to dings due to thinner cardstock
Storage. Use ultra pro deck protector sleeves with top loaders or magnetic holders; store in cool, dry environment away from sunlight to prevent holo oxidation; avoid penny sleeves alone as they can cause surface wear
Authenticity. Verify black market symbol and fine print text matches official Chinese 151 scans; check holo pattern consistency (irregular on fakes); use UV light for hidden Pokémon logo; authenticate via graded/graded population reports; beware reprints from unofficial Asian sellers
