Market outlook
Stable Outlook 7/10
The card benefits from strong franchise recognition and steady collector demand, but the high number of available copies in the market and multiple print variants usually prevent explosive short-term movement for the standard Full Art version. The out-of-print status supports gradual appreciation, especially for high-grade and stamped copies.
Next months. Likely to remain range-bound with modest upward pressure on clean raw and graded 10 copies, especially if broader Pokémon market demand strengthens.
Long term. Over 1-3 years, the Full Art and stamped variants are more likely to appreciate gradually than sharply, with the best gains concentrated in gem-mint and specialty-stamped examples.
History
Mewtwo is a genetically engineered Pokémon created by scientists from Mew’s DNA, first introduced in the original Pokémon games and anime as one of the franchise’s most iconic legendary Pokémon. Mew is a mythical Pokémon associated with rarity, ancient origins, and the genetic source of many Pokémon in the franchise. The Mewtwo & Mew-GX card combines two of the best-known psychic Pokémon into a tag-style GX card, emphasizing their shared lore and power; in play, it is famous for its Perfection ability, which lets it use attacks from other GX and Pokémon-GX cards in the discard pile.
This card first appeared in the English-language Sun & Moon — Unified Minds expansion, released on August 2, 2019. The card exists in multiple English print versions within the set, including the standard holo GX version (#71), the Full Art Ultra Rare version (#222), and the Rainbow Rare Secret Rare version (#242).
- Mewtwo & Mew-GX is one of the defining chase cards of Unified Minds and is widely regarded as the set’s flagship competitive and collector card.
- The Full Art Ultra Rare version is card #222/236, while the standard holo GX version is #71/236; both are distinct collectors’ targets with different market levels.
- The card’s gameplay reputation is strongly tied to the Perfection ability, which made it a powerful toolbox deck engine in the Standard format after release.

Collector notes
Condition. Check centering carefully, especially on the Full Art border-heavy print; look for whitening on corners and edges, surface scratches, roller marks, print lines, and holofoil scuffs. Full Art GX cards commonly show edge wear from pack handling, and graded values can fall sharply with poor centering or visible surface flaws.
Storage. Store in a fresh penny sleeve inside a rigid top loader or semi-rigid card holder, then keep it in a dry, temperature-stable environment away from direct light. For higher-value copies, use an outer sleeve over the top loader and consider grading if the card is clean enough to merit a premium.
Authenticity. Verify correct set symbol, card number, fonts, and holofoil pattern; counterfeit copies often have dull or incorrect foil, blurry text, incorrect energy symbols, or off-color borders. Compare the card against known authentic scans, and for raw copies check thickness, gloss, and edge cut consistency. World Championships-style stamped copies should have a crisp, properly placed stamp; blurry or misaligned stamps are a warning sign.
