Mewtwo

Market outlook

Stable Outlook 7/10

Demand should remain steady because Mewtwo is a top-tier fan-favorite Pokémon and this card is a recognizable modern promo. Growth is likely to be gradual rather than explosive unless sealed 151 UPC product becomes meaningfully scarcer.

Next months. Likely to trade in a narrow range unless a short-lived grading or sealed-product surge occurs.

Long term. Likely steady to modestly rising, with gem-mint copies maintaining the strongest premium while raw copies stay relatively accessible.

History

Mewtwo is a genetically engineered Pokémon created from Mew’s DNA, introduced in the original Pokémon games and anime as one of the franchise’s most iconic Legendary Pokémon. It is strongly associated with power, psychic abilities, isolation, and the ethics of artificial creation, which has made it a recurring flagship character across games, films, and cards.

This English Scarlet & Violet promo Mewtwo #052 was released on October 6, 2023 as part of the Scarlet & Violet 151 Ultra-Premium Collection promotion.

• Promo card from the Scarlet & Violet era tied to the 151 Ultra-Premium Collection.
• Black Star promo numbering appears as SVP 052 / #052, with a full-art holo presentation.
• Market listings and price trackers place it among the more collectible modern Mewtwo promos, with graded 10 examples trading at a strong premium.

• Promo distribution tied to a premium product rather than regular booster packs.
• High interest from Mewtwo collectors and sealed-product collectors.
• Condition-sensitive modern full-art holo cards tend to have fewer gem-mint copies than raw supply suggests.

Collector notes

Condition. Check centering, edge whitening, corner dings, surface scratches on the holo/full-art finish, and print lines or roller marks. Promo cards from sealed products can still show factory edge wear or tiny handling creases.

Storage. Keep in a penny sleeve and rigid top loader or semi-rigid holder, store upright in a cool dry place, and avoid direct light and pressure. For sealed collectors, keep the UPC product stored away from humidity and temperature swings.

Authenticity. Verify the SVP 052 number, English text, correct holo pattern, and clean professional print quality. Fakes often show blurry text, off-color borders, weak holo shine, incorrect fonts, or mismatched spacing around the promo and set markings.
