History

Detective Pikachu is a unique variant of Pikachu from the 2016 Pokémon video game 'Detective Pikachu' and the 2019 live-action movie 'Pokémon: Detective Pikachu', depicted as a hard-boiled detective Pokémon who speaks in a gravelly voice and solves mysteries alongside human partner Tim Goodman[2][4].

• Features a stamped variant with 'DVD Movie Stamp' or 'Detective Pikachu Stamp' on some copies[2][3]
• Holographic promo card with Lightning type, 90 HP, Basic stage, and 'Coffee Break' attack that heals 30 damage[4]
• Released during the Sun & Moon era to promote the first live-action Pokémon film[1][4]

Collector notes

Condition. Check for centering issues on holo pattern, edge wear from promo distribution, surface scratches on stamped areas, and print defects common in movie tie-in promos.

Storage. Use semi-rigid holders or top loaders with sleeves; store upright in cool, dry conditions away from sunlight to prevent holo fading.

Authenticity. Verify Black Star Promo stamp and SM190 numbering; genuine cards have crisp holo foil and official Pokémon copyright; fakes often have blurry stamps or incorrect fonts; cross-check with graded/graded populations.
