Market outlook
Stable Outlook 7/10
The original EX Dragon Frontiers card is already a mature vintage chase card, so prices tend to move steadily rather than spike sharply. The World Championships 2007 copy remains a lower-cost collectible with modest appreciation potential.
Next months. Likely to remain stable with small fluctuations based on grading demand and available supply.
Long term. Likely gradual appreciation for high-grade original copies; championship-deck copies should rise slowly unless broader Rayquaza collector demand accelerates.
History
Rayquaza is a legendary Dragon/Flying Pokémon introduced in the Hoenn era and known as the sky guardian that can calm conflicts between Kyogre and Groudon; this card version is the Delta Species printing of Rayquaza ex, featuring the altered type/color treatment used in the EX Dragon Frontiers set.
First released as Rayquaza ex δ in EX Dragon Frontiers on November 8, 2006, as card #97/101; the World Championships 2007 version is a non-tournament legal championship-deck print of that same card.
- The original competitive/collector release is EX Dragon Frontiers #97/101, a Rare Holo EX card with artwork by Ryo Ueda.
- The World Championships 2007 version is a sanctioned championship-deck replica tied to player Tom Roos and is considered a promo-style World Championship Card.
- Market listings show the base Dragon Frontiers printing is substantially more valuable than the championship-deck copy, reflecting collector demand for the authentic 2006 release.
Collector notes
Condition. Check holofoil for scratching, whitening on corners and edges, surface dents, centered borders, and any deck-shuffle wear. Championship deck copies often show play wear more easily because they were handled as competitive deck cards.
Storage. Store in a penny sleeve and rigid top loader or card saver, keep away from humidity and direct light, and avoid friction by using fresh sleeves for high-value or graded copies.
Authenticity. Verify exact set naming, card number 97/101, correct championship-deck text, and print quality. Genuine versions should have crisp text and consistent holofoil patterns; blurry fonts, washed color, off-center borders, or incorrect stamping are common red flags. For the World Championships 2007 version, confirm the championship-deck attribution and that it matches the known Tom Roos print style.
