Market outlook
Rising Outlook 7/10
Recent market references show strong and sustained pricing at both raw and graded levels, with multiple sources describing it as the set’s grail card and a leading investment target. Continued One Piece TCG growth and Ace’s character popularity support demand, while relatively limited supply of clean copies supports pricing.[5][6][10][11]
Next months. Likely to remain firm to slightly higher, with volatile spikes around major One Piece TCG news, grading pop changes, or marketplace liquidity shifts.
Long term. Over 1-3 years, likely to hold premium status and trend upward gradually if the One Piece TCG remains popular, with gem-mint copies outperforming raw copies.
History
Portgas D. Ace is a major character from the One Piece franchise and the adopted older brother of Monkey D. Luffy. He is the son of the Pirate King Gol D. Roger and Portgas D. Rouge, and later became the Second Division Commander of the Whitebeard Pirates. In the story, Ace is a symbolically important figure whose fate has major consequences for the Marineford war and Luffy’s development. The card’s Whitebeard Pirates connection is reflected in its ability, which references Leaders whose type includes Whitebeard Pirates.[4]
First released in the ONE PIECE Card Game set Paramount War (OP02) in 2022 as card OP02-013; the English alternate art/manga-style version is part of that set’s premium chase-card lineup.[2][4][5]
- OP02-013 is one of the flagship chase cards from Paramount War and is widely treated as the set’s top-value card in the English market.[5][10][11]
- Market trackers show a large gap between the playable non-alt-art SR copy and the premium manga/alternate-art versions, indicating that the card number OP02-013 exists in multiple market variants with very different values.[2][3][6][10]
- The card’s in-game effect can grant [Rush] if the Leader’s type includes Whitebeard Pirates, making the card thematically and mechanically tied to Ace’s narrative role.[4]

Collector notes
Condition. Check centering, edge whitening, corner crushing, surface scratches, print lines, and holo wear. For manga/alt-art copies, surface scuffs and front-facing scratches are especially important because they are highly visible under light. Grading premiums are large, so even tiny defects can materially affect value.[1][2][6][10]
Storage. Store in a clean sleeve and rigid top loader or semi-rigid holder immediately after opening. Keep the card dry, away from sunlight, and separated from other cards to avoid edge wear and surface scratching. For high-value copies, consider a penny sleeve inside a toploader or a grading submission sleeve rather than loose storage.
Authenticity. Verify exact set number OP02-013, correct English card text, and authentic foil/print quality. Counterfeits often show blurry text, off-color printing, incorrect holo patterns, or weak texture on premium arts. Compare the card against known legitimate scans and inspect the back for color consistency and crisp borders; graded-population market data and price guides can help confirm whether a claimed variant is plausible.[1][2][4][6]
