Market outlook
Stable Outlook 7/10
Prices hold steady due to consistent Charizard collector demand offsetting abundant supply; recent sales show no major 30-day changes[1].
Next months. Stable with minor fluctuations around $150-$500 for mid-grades
Long term. Gradual appreciation for high-grade copies as supply wears, potentially 10-20% growth in 1-3 years
History
Charizard is the final evolution of Charmander, a Fire/Flying-type Pokémon introduced in the original Pokémon Red and Green games in 1996 in Japan. As an iconic dragon-like fire-breathing Pokémon, it holds immense significance in the Pokémon franchise as a mascot alongside Pikachu, symbolizing power and popularity in anime, games, merchandise, and trading cards.
First printed in the Pokémon Legendary Collection set released on May 24, 2002, by Wizards of the Coast in the United States[3].
- This card reprints the original Base Set Charizard design from 1999, making it a sought-after retro holo in the Legendary Collection.
- Legendary Collection was the 11th Pokémon TCG expansion, featuring reverse holos which were innovative at the time.
- Charizard cards consistently drive high collector interest due to the character's enduring popularity.

Collector notes
Condition. Inspect centering on all edges (common off-center prints), check for holo scratches or foil peeling on the Charizard image, examine corners for whitening or dings, and verify print lines for straightness; surface scratches and edge wear are frequent flaws in this set.
Storage. Store in semi-rigid or magnetic top-loader holders with sleeves, keep in cool, dry environments away from sunlight to prevent foil oxidation, use album pages or binders for display but prioritize top-loaders for high-value copies.
Authenticity. Verify Wizards of the Coast copyright on back (pre-2003 print style), check holo pattern for consistency (fakes often have blurry flames or incorrect shine), use blacklight for shadowless vs. 1st edition hallmarks if applicable, cross-reference with graded/graded population reports; no official reprints exist.
