Mewtwo is a legendary Psychic-type Pokémon created by scientists from the DNA of the mythical Pokémon Mew, serving as a central antagonist in the Pokémon universe, first appearing in Pokémon Red and Blue (1996) and the anime film Pokémon: The First Movie (1998). It embodies themes of artificial creation, immense power, and existential struggle, making it one of the most iconic and powerful Pokémon with signature moves like Psystrike.
First printed in 2023 as part of the Pokémon Scarlet & Violet 151 Ultra-Premium Collection, distributed via retail bundles in English-speaking markets.
Condition. Check centering (especially top/bottom due to promo borders), sharp corners prone to dings from UPC packaging, flawless holo pattern without scratches or clouding, clean edges without chipping; common flaws include print lines on holo foil and surface scratches from bundle handling.
Storage. Use semi-rigid holder or top-loader with soft sleeve in cool, dry environment; avoid direct light to prevent holo oxidation; ideal for slab grading due to promo thickness.
Authenticity. Verify black star promo stamp alignment and crisp text; genuine cards have vibrant magenta/purple holo with precise Mewtwo artwork details; fakes often have dull foil, misaligned numbering (SVP052), or incorrect font weights; cross-check with official Pokémon database or graded/graded population reports.
