Market outlook
Stable Outlook 6/10
Modern secret rares often settle after initial release hype, then move gradually based on competitive relevance, character popularity, and sealed-set availability. Roaring Moon ex has strong collector interest, but large print supply keeps prices from spiking aggressively.
Next months. Likely to remain in a relatively narrow price band with minor fluctuations tied to grading demand and set nostalgia.
Long term. Over 1-3 years, modest appreciation is possible, especially for gem-mint graded copies, but explosive growth is less likely unless the card becomes a major nostalgia chase or supply tightens significantly.
History
Roaring Moon is a Paradox Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet, inspired by the ancient past form of Salamence. It is one of the prehistoric, dinosaur-like Paradox species tied to Area Zero and the games' time-displacement lore. In the Trading Card Game, Roaring Moon became a major chase card because of its striking dragon-like design and competitive relevance, with this full-art Hyper Rare version showcasing the Pokémon as a premium collector piece.
First released in English in Paradox Rift (SV04) in 2023 as card 262/182, a Hyper Rare Secret Rare full-art variant.
- This is the gold Hyper Rare version of Roaring Moon ex, not the standard ex or illustration rare version.
- Roaring Moon ex became popular both with collectors and players due to strong Dark-type attack pressure in the Scarlet & Violet era.
- Paradox Rift introduced a number of Paradox Pokémon cards that were among the most chased cards of the set, and Roaring Moon ex 262/182 is one of the marquee secret rares.

Collector notes
Condition. Check for whitening on edges and corners, especially the black/gold borders; surface scratching on the foil is common; look for print lines, centering issues, and micro-creases that are easy to miss on dark/gold cards. The textured Hyper Rare finish can show wear and scuffs more clearly than non-textured cards.
Storage. Use a penny sleeve and rigid top loader or card saver immediately after handling. Store vertically in a cool, dry, low-light environment. Avoid friction from repeated sliding, and for high-grade copies consider perfect-fit sleeves plus semi-rigid storage before grading submission.
Authenticity. Authentic copies should have crisp text, proper texture, correct gold coloration, and standard Pokémon TCG print quality. Watch for overly glossy surfaces, blurred text, off-color gold tones, or incorrect energy symbol layout. Compare the back color and font spacing to verified authentic copies; counterfeit gold secret rares often have weak texture or inconsistent holographic layering.
