Market outlook
Stable Outlook 7/10
The card has already established itself as the set’s premier gold chase, but modern high-end cards often level off after initial release hype. Demand should remain supported by Darkrai popularity and set-top rarity status.
Next months. Likely to trade in a relatively tight range with volatility based on grading sales and new listings.
Long term. Likely gradual appreciation if the set remains popular and sealed supply tightens, with graded 10 copies holding the strongest upside.
History
Darkrai is a Mythical Pokémon introduced in the Sinnoh era, known as the Pitch-Black Pokémon and strongly associated with nightmares, shadowy power, and the lunar cycle in Pokémon lore. Mega Darkrai ex is an enhanced Mega Evolution-era representation of Darkrai, making it a modern collectible chase version of one of Pokémon’s most popular Dark-type legends.
First released in English in ME05: Pitch Black on July 17, 2026, as card 120/084, the gold Mega Hyper Rare finish and set number place it at the very top of the set’s pull hierarchy.
- This card is the gold Mega Hyper Rare, the rarest pull in Pitch Black and the highest rarity in the set.
- Mega Darkrai ex appears in multiple versions in Pitch Black, including Double Rare, Ultra Rare full art, Special Illustration Rare, and this gold secret-style chase version.
- Community market data places the card as a case-hit level pull, with estimated odds around 1 in 750 to 1 in 1,100 packs depending on the source.

Collector notes
Condition. Check for edge whitening on the gold border, corner wear, surface scratches that are easy to see on gold foil, centering, and any factory print lines or holo scuffs. Gold cards also show fingerprints and sleeve marks more readily than regular foils.
Storage. Store in a penny sleeve plus semi-rigid or top loader, keep away from light and humidity, and avoid friction with other cards because gold surfaces scratch easily. For long-term protection, use clean inner sleeves and rigid graded-style holders if the card is high value.
Authenticity. Verify correct numbering as 120/084, English text layout, gold Mega Hyper Rare styling, and consistent print texture. Fakes often have dull foil, incorrect font weight, blurry energy symbols, or poor edge alignment; compare holo shine and card stock against a known authentic copy.
