Market outlook
Stable Outlook 7/10
The underlying Umbreon character and Gold Star artwork support durable demand, while the broad availability of the Celebrations reprint limits scarcity-driven appreciation. High-grade copies should perform better than raw copies, but short-term prices can track overall Pokémon collector sentiment.
Next months. Likely stable to moderately rising for pristine graded copies over the next 3-6 months; raw and lower-grade copies may remain range-bound.
Long term. Likely moderately positive over 1-3 years, particularly for high-grade German copies, though the reprint should remain substantially less valuable than the original POP Series 5 Umbreon Gold Star.
History
Nachtara is the German name for Umbreon, a Generation II Dark-type Pokémon introduced in Pokémon Gold and Silver. Umbreon evolves from Evoli through high friendship at night and is associated with moonlight, stealth, and defensive play. The artwork depicts the Umbreon Gold Star card originally released in the POP Series 5 promotional set; the 25th Anniversary version reproduces that iconic design.
The original Umbreon Gold Star was first released in English in 2005 in POP Series 5 as card 17/17. The German 25th Anniversary reprint was released in 2021 as part of the Celebrations Classic Collection, although the supplied set label EX Power Keepers and year 2007 do not match the stamped German version.
- The 25th Anniversary stamp identifies this card as a 2021 Celebrations-era reprint rather than an original 2007 EX Power Keepers card.
- The original Umbreon Gold Star is one of the most recognizable and valuable Gold Star Pokémon cards.
- The German card name is Nachtara, while the English name is Umbreon.
- The provided number 17/17 corresponds to the original POP Series 5 Umbreon Gold Star and is also used in marketplace listings for the Celebrations reprint.
Collector notes
Condition. Check centering, holofoil scratches, edge whitening, corner wear, dents, print lines, surface indentation, and silvering. On the stamped reprint, verify that the 25th Anniversary logo is clean and correctly positioned. Do not confuse the reprint with the substantially rarer original POP Series 5 card.
Storage. Use a soft inner sleeve, a rigid semi-rigid holder or graded slab, and store upright in a cool, dry, temperature-stable environment away from sunlight and humidity. Avoid tight sleeves, PVC materials, loose storage, and repeated handling of the holo surface.
Authenticity. Confirm the card layout, German spelling Nachtara, correct holo pattern, Pokémon copyright line, set numbering, card stock, and print quality. The 25th Anniversary stamp should be integrated cleanly into the artwork and not appear as a separate sticker. Compare against authenticated Celebrations examples, and use professional grading for high-value copies. A card described simultaneously as EX Power Keepers 2007, number 17/17, German, and 25th Anniversary should be investigated because those identifiers describe different print contexts.
