Market outlook
Stable Outlook 6/10
Demand is supported by character popularity and the promo variant, but the card is not currently driven by tournament dominance or extreme scarcity. The base-set printing should remain inexpensive, while the promo version and graded foils are more likely to hold steady than surge sharply.
Next months. Expect mostly flat pricing for raw copies, with modest movement in promo and graded examples if Lorcana promo interest increases.
Long term. Over 1-3 years, the promo printing should retain the strongest collectible premium, while the base-set rare is likely to remain a low-cost staple unless major nostalgia or set-completion demand increases.
History
Kuzco is the emperor protagonist of Disney's 'The Emperor's New Groove' (2000), a fast-talking, self-centered ruler whose arc centers on humility, friendship, and personal growth. In Lorcana, Kuzco is represented as a Storyborn character, meaning the card depicts the character as he appears in Disney canon rather than as a reimagined Dreamborn or Floodborn version. His 'Temperamental Emperor' design emphasizes his comedic arrogance and retaliatory nature, matching the character's original film personality and his in-game deterrent ability.[1][11][19]
This version first appeared in Disney Lorcana The First Chapter as card 84/204, released on August 18, 2023.[1][7] A later promotional printing exists as card 8/C1 in the Disney Lorcana Promo Cards / Challenge Promos line.[3][8][16]
- The card's original The First Chapter printing is a Rare Emerald character with Ward and 'No Touchy!' text that can banish the challenger when Kuzco is banished.[1][11][19]
- The promo version is cataloged as 8/C1 and is associated with Disney Lorcana Challenge promo circulation, separate from the main set printing.[3][8][16]
- The card was revealed in 2023 on the official Lorcana Inks page before the launch of The First Chapter, and it became one of the early discussed cards due to its punishing defensive ability.[1][10][18]

- Supply
- Medium
- The First Chapter printing is a normal Rare rather than a super-limited chase rarity.
- The promo printing is scarcer than the base set version and benefits from tournament/promo distribution.
- Foil and high-grade copies are harder to find in top condition because Lorcana foils show wear easily.
Collector notes
Condition. Check for edge whitening, corner fraying, surface scratches, and print-line wear, especially on foil promo copies where scuffing is more visible. Centering, clean borders, and a flat surface are important for grading; Lorcana foils can show holo wear and micro-scratches quickly in handling.
Storage. Use a penny sleeve plus rigid top loader or semi-rigid holder for raw copies, and store away from heat, humidity, and sunlight. For foil promo versions, avoid binder rings pressing on the surface and consider double-sleeving if the card is handled often.
Authenticity. Verify the card number, set identifier, copyright line, and print quality against known official versions. Authentic Lorcana cards should have crisp text, consistent color saturation, and correct font/spacing; counterfeit cards often show blurry text, dull foiling, off-center borders, or incorrect security-feel stock. Promo and main-set versions should not be confused, since the 8/C1 promo and 84/204 main-set card have different identifiers and market behavior.
