Market outlook
Stable Outlook 7/10
The card has enduring gameplay relevance and broad recognition, but the base printing is already widely available. Value should remain supported by competitive demand and collectible promo interest rather than rapid shortage-driven growth.
Next months. Likely to remain steady with modest movement based on Lorcana metagame shifts and general Disney collector demand.
Long term. Over 1-3 years, the original set copy should stay stable while the promo and high-grade foil examples have the best chance of gradual appreciation.
History
A Whole New World is not a character card; it is a Steel song card in Disney Lorcana based on the iconic song from Disney's 1992 animated film Aladdin. The song was composed by Alan Menken with lyrics by Tim Rice and is one of Disney's most recognizable musical numbers, associated with Aladdin and Princess Jasmine. In Lorcana, the card's gameplay identity is tied to its effect rather than a character portrait, and the song is valued for its hand-reset mechanic in Steel decks.[1][4][8]
The original printing was released as card 195/204 in The First Chapter on August 18, 2023, the LGS release date for Disney Lorcana's first set.[1][17]
- The First Chapter printing is a Steel song with the effect: 'Each player discards their hand and draws 7 cards.'[1][4]
- A World Championship promo version exists with different collector numbering (10/C1) and was released in June 2025.[4]
- The card is one of Lorcana's best-known competitive reset effects and has remained a recognizable staple in Steel decks.[8][14]
Collector notes
Condition. Check for edge whitening, corner wear, surface scratches, and centering, with extra attention on foil copies for clouding, roller marks, and print lines. Promo copies should also be checked for any event-handling wear, especially on edges and surfaces if distributed at tournaments.
Storage. Store in a penny sleeve and rigid top loader or semi-rigid holder, and keep foil copies away from heat, humidity, and pressure. If graded, use a slab-safe box or archival storage and avoid repeated handling because song cards and foil finishes show wear easily.
Authenticity. Verify the exact collector number, set marking, and promo identification, since the promo version is distinct from the 195/204 First Chapter printing. Compare the print quality, font sharpness, and foil pattern against verified examples; counterfeit Lorcana cards often show soft text, incorrect color balance, or poor cut consistency.
