Market outlook
Stable Outlook 7/10
The card benefits from strong character popularity and a premium variant type, but it is already a known chase card with active market pricing. As a result, the market is likely to consolidate rather than move sharply in one direction unless a major surge in One Piece Card Game collecting demand occurs.
Next months. Likely to trade in a relatively stable range with occasional spikes from grading submissions, social media attention, or broader One Piece market movement.
Long term. Over 1-3 years, the card should remain a desirable premium collectible, with gradual appreciation most likely for high-grade copies if overall One Piece demand stays strong.
History
Sogeking is the masked alter ego used by Usopp in One Piece, the long-running manga and anime series created by Eiichiro Oda. The character is a fan-favorite comedic and heroic persona introduced during the Water 7 / Enies Lobby era, where Usopp adopts the Sogeking identity to regain confidence and act as a sharpshooter hero. In the One Piece Card Game, this card is mechanically and flavorfully tied to Usopp, as the card text explicitly states it is also treated as [Usopp] according to the rules.
First released in Japanese and English in the One Piece Card Game expansion "Pillars of Strength" (OP03), which launched on June 30, 2023. The exact card is OP03-122, Secret Rare, with the manga alternate art version appearing in the same product line as a premium chase variant.
- The card is a Secret Rare from OP03 and features a highly sought-after manga alternate art treatment.
- It is one of the iconic chase cards from Pillars of Strength because of both character popularity and low pull rate.
- The card has competitive utility: on play it can return a cost 6 or less character to hand, then draw 2 and trash 2, making it playable beyond just collector interest.
Collector notes
Condition. Check the card edges, corners, surface gloss, and centering carefully. Manga alternate art foil cards are especially prone to visible edge whitening, micro-scratches on the foil surface, print lines, and corner wear from pack handling. Centering and clean foil texture matter significantly for grading. Also inspect for roller marks, silvering, and any pressure dents that may only be visible under angled light.
Storage. Store immediately in a soft sleeve and rigid top loader or one-touch case, ideally with a fitted inner sleeve for graded-intent preservation. Keep away from humidity, direct light, and temperature swings. For a manga alt art Secret Rare, use a clean penny sleeve before any semi-rigid holder, and avoid repeated removal to protect the foil surface.
Authenticity. Verify the exact card number OP03-122, English language print, and the manga alternate art illustration style. Authentic cards should have crisp print quality, consistent Bandai-era card stock feel, proper text alignment, and clean foil application. Be cautious of proxy cards, custom reprints, and altered foils; counterfeit versions may show blurry text, wrong saturation, incorrect texture, or poor cut quality. Comparing against known authenticated images and checking weight, surface finish, and font sharpness is recommended.
