History
Roberto Clemente Walker (August 18, 1934 - December 31, 1972) is widely considered the greatest Latin player in Major League Baseball history. He played his entire 18-year career with the Pittsburgh Pirates (1955-1972), batting .317 with 3,000 hits, 240 home runs, 1,305 RBI, and a record 254 assists for a right fielder. A 12-time Gold Glove winner with a .973 fielding percentage, he led the Pirates to World Series titles in 1960 and 1971. Tragically died in a plane crash delivering aid to earthquake victims in Nicaragua.

Collector notes
Condition. Check for centering (often off due to 1972 Topps production), corner wear, edge chipping, print defects, wax stains on back, and surface scratches. Common flaws include poor registration and print lines from Topps' mass production.
Storage. Store in semi-rigid holders or top-loaders with UV-protective sleeves in cool, dry environment away from sunlight. Use card savers for ungraded copies; avoid stacking without dividers.
Authenticity. Authentic 1972 Topps cards have specific Topps copyright line on back ('TOPPS CHEWING GUM, INC. 1972'), thin card stock, and rounded corners. Spot fakes by overly sharp printing, wrong fonts, or modern paper thickness. Verify high grades via graded/graded population reports; no official reprints exist.
